In the Great War enlisted 1914 as a Trumpeter in Royal East Kent Mounted Rifles Yeo. Territory; 2nd Lieut. December 1914 Royal Field Artillery, 1st Lincolnshire Baty. Territ.; Capt. 1915 Royal Horse Artillery Warwickshire Baty. Territ.; was employed in training various Batteries in England till Feb. 1918; and being unable to pass as fit for service overseas was invalided out of the Army in 1918.
