Adam married Anne Gibbs on 11 Feb 1728. Anne (daughter of John Gibbs and Mary Hall) was born on 6 May 1711; died in 1778. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Will dated February 1747-8, proved same year in Principal Registry of the Bishop of Exeter.

She is mentioned in the will of her mother's relation Margaret (born Lane and widow of Hunt), wife of Nicholas Prideaux (son of Nicholas Prideaux of Soldon, near Holsworthy, Devon). The wills of Anne and John and Anne Gregson mention her as their aunt, but Margaret Prideaux in her own will of 1698, proved 1704 (in the Principal Registry of the Bishop of Exeter), calls Isaac - the father of the first two - her cousin. It will be of interest to note the coincidence that the manor and advowson of Clyst St. George belonged to the Prideaux family from 1557 till it was sold in 1643 by Sir John Prideaux of Nutwell in the adjoining parish of Woodbury. Another coincidence to be mentioned is that in 1554 Robert Gibbes of Honington, co. Warwick, a family which like our own (the Clyst St. George) family claims relationship with Gibbs of Fenton in Dartington, married a Margaret daughter of Humphrey Prideaux of Thuborough, near Holsworthy, a relation of the Prideaux who bought the manor of Clyst St. George; see p. 15 of the Treatise by John Arthur Gibbs filed in 'Aldenham General Collections', Volume A, p. 621.

J.P. for Devon: matric Oxford (Christ Church), 7 April 1704; student of Inner Temple 1704. Died 27 February 1741 aged 57; buried 4 March 1741 (1741-2) at St. Mary Arches, Exeter. Memorial Inscription there. Will dated 2 November 1741, proved 1 November 1742 in the Principal Registry of the Bishop of Exeter.

In his will he left many manors in Devon in trust for his daughter Anne (see 'Antony & Dorothea Gibbs' by J.A. Gibbs, pp. 2 and 5; and p. 6 of the Additions to it of 1927). Among these was the manor of Brampford Speke near Exeter, which his father Isaac bought in 1708, and, to commemorate John and Isaac as owners of this manor, their arms with those of their wives were included in a window put into the church there in 1853.

John married Mary Hall in Nov 1708 in Farringdon, Devon. Mary (daughter of Nicholas Hall and Elizabeth ?) was born about 1688; died in Dec 1726 in Exeter House, Roehampton, London; was buried in Exeter Cathedral, Exeter, Devon. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Steward of Exeter 1685, Sheriff 1692, Receiver 1693, The Administration of 1726 was granted to his son John, his widow Sarah Renouncing.

Isaac married Anne Mercer about 1678. Anne (daughter of John Mercer, of Ottery St. Mary) was born about 1660; died on 8 Oct 1690; was buried on 11 Oct 1690 in Exeter, Devon. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
