In the Great War she served in the Voluntary Aid Detachment of the Red Cross Soc. as a nurse in the Infirmary at Oxford, Netley Hospital and the military Hospital at Vimereux, France; mentioned in Despatches July 1919; General Service (Victory) medal, and Allies medal.

Dorothy married Joseph Francis Vaughan Gibbs on 27 Jul 1921 in Holy Trinity, Sloane Street, Chelsea, London. Joseph (son of Rev. George Henry Gibbs and Mildred Mordaunt) was born on 8 Dec 1887 in Hutton, Somerset; died on 4 Mar 1961 in London. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
