    Notes:

    David, after some years in Australia in Aircraft Engineering, went to work in USA in various roles for Rockwell. His wife Ruth née Crane predeceased him and both his children died a few years later. David served in the Second World War in the R.A.N.V.R as the Radar Officer and was sunk in HMAS Canberra just before the Battle of the Coral Sea, safely rescued luckily by the Americans.

    Joined Antony Gibbs & Sons, London, May 1919 and was one of the managers of their Australian Branch, Gibbs Bright & Co. 1920-30 (Melbourne 1920-23, Adelaide 1923-25, Sydney 1925-30). Headmaster of "Tudor House" Preparatory School nr. Mossvale, N.S.W. from 1931-38. Elected Vice-Chancellor, Melbourne University in 1938 from which post he retired in 1951. Knighted 1948.

    A Trustee of the Australian National Gallery from 1941, and Chairman from 1951. Member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission in 1942. Dr. J.F. Bright and sister of E. Gertrude F. Gibbs. Baptised 30 September 1891 at St. Michael's there. Married by her uncle Dr. Hubert Burge, Bishop of Southwark. Cremated at Springdale, Memorial Inscription there.
