Headmaster of "Tudor House" Preparatory School nr. Mossvale, N.S.W. from 1931-38. Elected Vice-Chancellor, Melbourne University in 1938 from which post he retired in 1951. Knighted 1948.

    A Trustee of the Australian National Gallery from 1941, and Chairman from 1951. Member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission in 1942. Dr. J.F. Bright and sister of E. Gertrude F. Gibbs. Baptised 30 September 1891 at St. Michael's there. Married by her uncle Dr. Hubert Burge, Bishop of Southwark. Cremated at Springdale, Memorial Inscription there.
