Regular soldier in Coldstream Guards until 1967. With his wife Janet, took over chair-caning business in 1969 in High Wycombe. Developed their own line of furniture in 1977. Moved the business to Cirencester in 1979 where Janet (4) has a separate chair-caning workshop.

713 Baptised 5 January 1847 at Wraxall Educated at Eton College. Died of Yellow fever at Kingston, Jamaica, unmarried, 25 February 1870 and was buried 22 July 1870 at Wraxall. Memorial Inscription in the Church and churchyard at Clifton Hampden and outside the vestry at Wraxall.

At Eton he was in 1865 in the school cricket XI, and football XI. He entered Antony Gibbs and Sons, London, in 1867 and died on his way to join their Branch in Peru.

724 Baptised 8 July 1890 at St. Saviour's, Pimlico. 1st daughter of Henry Percy St. John (died 1921); a Principal Clerk in the House of Lords, for whom see Bolingbroke in Burke's 'Peerage') by Maude Louise, daughter of Hon. Pascoe Ch. Glyn, for whom see Wolverton in Burke's 'Peerage'. Buried at Barrow.

A Trustee of St. Michael's Home, Cheddar from 1928. Indefatigable worker in many social spheres. For many years, while living at Easton Grey, she was a leading organiser of Malmesbury Hospital. A keen and able Conservative politician in the Chippenham Division, she was the mainstay first to Sir Victor Cazalet M.P. and then from 1943-62 to Mr. David Eccles, M.P. (now Lord Eccles). In the Second World War she kept the Constituency going by her own endeavours in her official capacities of Treasurer and then Chairman. She also ran a canteen at Badminton for H.M. Queen Mary's Guard and other soldiers stationed in the neighbourhood. An enthusiastic and
talented gardener.

Died 29 September 1964.

After the War and untill married employed in the Admiralty Hydrographic Dept.

Returned to Devon for a year's practical work in school for E.S.N. children as a Matron before going on to study Social Science in Bristol.

(Post Office Rifles) of the London Regt., 7 Sept. 1914, Captain November 15, Adjutant; wounded 28 April 1917 at cross roads between Mory and Ecoust St. Mein, nr. Bapaume, France, and invalided for the rest of the War. British War Medal and Allies' (Victory) Medal.

Served in the Boer War in South Africa 1899-1901 (medal with 3 clasps). A.D.C. 1903 to his bro.-in-law Major-General Parr when in command of the North West District of England at Chester. Resigned from the Army 21 Oct. 1903.

Trout-breeding at Beaulieu, Hants. 1906-11. A director of Blyth Greene Jourdain & Co., Ld., London, 1899-1922. In the Great War was on home service as temp. Major in the Gloucestershire Yeomanry 19 September 1914 to December 1919. Resided at 13 Cadogan Court, Draycott Avenue, Chelsea, for some years from 1911; at Winson Manor, Gloucestershire, for some years up to his death.

Returned 1915 for the Great War and joined an Officers' Training Corps; 2nd Lieut. 3/1 Warwick Royal Horse Artillery 1916; Lieut, later in same year; served in Salonica, Egypt, Palestine, in 1918 in France, and in Germany during the occupation; demobilized 1919. British war medal, and Allies' (Victory) medal. Citrus farming with his brother at Rietfontein Farm, Selborne, nr. Addo, Cape Province, from 1921.
