- Commenced his naval career as midshipman on board the Impregnable, of ninety-eight guns, bearing the flag of his relative, Sir Richard Bickerton, was made lieutenant in 1792, obtained a captain's commission in 1797, and attained the rank of rear-admiral 19th July 1821. He was created a knight commander of the Bath in 1833.
Sir Richard, whose patronymic was Moubray, assumed by sign manual, in 1832, upon inheriting the manor and estate of Wood Walton, the surname and arms of Hussey. He was a magistrate for the counties of Huntingdon and Fife and a deputy lieutenant of the former shire.
