Studied Archeology at Jericho with Dame Kathleen Kenyon 1956. Since 1958 (as Christopher Gibbs Ltd.) in business as dealer in paintings and antiques at Islington, Chelsea, and later at 118 New Bond Street, London W1.
Director of the Faversham Oyster Fishery Company; Trustee of the Edward James Foundation. Member of the Diocesan Advisory Committee, Diocese of Canterbury 1979. Trustee of the J Paul Getty Jr. Charitable Trust in 1985.
By family agreement, on the death of his mother, inherited the Manor and advowson of Clifton Hampden, 1980.
