In the Great War served in France and Belgium with the Royal Dragoons October 1914, to end of the War. Wounded at Ypres, 13 May 1915 (Military Cross, 1918; mentioned in Despatches, 1917; 1914 Star, British War Medal, Allies' (Victory) Medal, Belgian War Cross). Commanded the Royal Dragoons 1927-30.
