  Notes	Daughter of Jerome Nugent Bankes, banker (for whose lineage see 'Bankes of Corfe Castle' in Burke's 'Landed Gentry' 1846 and 1925 editions), by Muriel Frances, daughter of Richard Henry Wingfield-Digby. Baptised 8 November 1890 at St. Saviour's, Pimlico. In the Great War she was employed in decoding, first by the Canadian and American Dept. of the Ministry of Munitions; next by the "Women's Royal Naval Service", at first at Holyhead Station, afterwards at Admiralty Headquarters. After the War and till marriage employed in the Admiralty Hydrographic Dept. Baptised 8 November 1890 at St. Saviour's, Pimlico. After the War and untill married employed in the Admiralty Hydrographic Dept. 1891 CENSUS - Living with parents at 85 Belgrave Rd. London. 1901 CENSUS - Aged 10, Visiting at Newlands House, Mr Charles T. Palmer and Frances. Also, Beatrix Digby, aged 32, step daughter. 1911 CENSUS - Aged 20, Visiting at Wolfeton House, Dorchester, Dorset, Mr Wynne Albert Bankes. Immigration & Tavel. 18 Feb 1921 - Dep. Southampton for Natal, S. Africa. (probably going to Mauritius to get married.) 24 May 1928 - Arr. London from Mauritius, aboard SS Gascon. With children, Antony 5, Eleanor 4, & Barbara 2. 29 June 1940 - Listed as a passenger on the "Athlone Castle" sailing from Durban, S.Africa to Southampton. Buried at Pine Lawns Cemetery, Warminster, Wiltshire. Probate read, 17 Nov 1983 in London. Left £4893.
