- Baptised at Hutton, Somerset. Educated at Lancing College 1893-8.
In South Africa 1899-1908, and served there in the Boer War of 1899-1902 at the siege of Kimberley in the Town Guard, in the Cape Mounted Rifles, and afterwards in the Cape Mounted Police (Queen's and King's medals with clasps and the Star of Kimberley). Orange farming at Anaheim, California, 1909-15. Returned 1915 for the Great War and joined an Officers' Training Corps; 2nd Lieut. 3/1 Warwick Royal Horse Artillery 1916; Lieut, later in same year; served in Salonica, Egypt, Palestine, in 1918 in France, and in Germany during the occupation; demobilized 1919. British war medal, and Allies' (Victory) medal. Citrus farming with his brother at Rietfontein Farm, Selborne, nr. Addo, Cape Province, from 1921.
Died unmarried.
