- Dean of Westminster from 1925 until his death in 1937. An exceptionally talented artist he wrote widely on Church treasures whilst Dean of Westminster.
A much respected cleric he died on 28 September 1937 and his ashes buried in the nave in Westminster Abbey.
Also, was a Trustee of Speke Hall, Liverpool: later passing to the National Trust.
