Farming in Rhodesia. 1959-63 Joint Manager with his brother Tim of home farm. 1963-66 joint manager of tobacco, beef, maize producing enterprise. 1966 Management trainee with Gallahers (Belfast). 1967-69 manager of private farming company near Salisbury, responsible for maize, beef and quarrying enterprises. 1969-73 manager of private farming company near Salisbury; farm products included tobacco, maize, ranch beef and stallfed beef, some irrigated pasture and arable crops; 1973-77 Manager private farming company Bulawayo; responsible for dry land and irrigated feed production for 200 cow dairy herd.

    While in Rhodesia was Chairman of dairy branch association and Vice-Chairman of local Farmers Association. Church Council member and member of board of boys prep school and girls finishing school.

    1959-72 Rhodesian Police Reserve. 1969-77 Vice-President of Centre Party which was the only party to have members elected to oppose Ian Smith's Rhodesian Front Party.

    1977 Moved to England with his family and from 1977-78 attended Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Advanced Farm Management Course.

    1979 joined Booker McConnell Ltd. and seconded to Big Falls Ranch (Booker Agriculture INternational Ltd.) Belize, as General Manager of 37,000 acres of Rice/Cattle project.

    Interests and hobbies: Most branches of Natural History, ornithology and archaeology. Has travelled overland from London to Capetown and has also participated in many natural history expeditions in Rhodesia and bordering countries; fishing and most other outdoor activities.
