  1. 1.  Bertram Antony Medley was born on 23 Feb 1895 in Oxford, Oxfordshire; died on 25 Sep 1915 in Givenchy, Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France.

    Notes:

    3rd son. Baptised 19 March 1895 at St. Giles, Oxford. Educated at Winchester College (scholar) 1908-14; entered at Balliol College, Oxford 1914. War reported wounded and missing 25 September 1915, in the Great Way, at Givenchy, nr. La Bassez, France, and since presumed dead.

    Served in the Great War; 2nd Lieut. 3rd Battalion Highland Light Infantry, attached to 2nd battalion. Despatches November 1915; medals 1914-15 Star, British War medal, Allies (Victory) medal, issued to his father.

    Memorial Inscriptions in Speed churchyard and on War Memorials at Loos in France, Winchester College, St. Mary's Cathedral Glasgow, Edinburge Castle and Mears Ashby.
