    William Bruère Otter (28 May 1805 – 25 June 1876) was an Anglican cleric who was the Archdeacon of Lewes from 1855 until his death in 1876.

    William Otter was the son of William Otter, Bishop of Chicester and his wife, born Nancy Sadleir Bruère. He was educated at Rugby, Charterhouse and King's College, Cambridge, graduating BA in 1828. Ordained in 1830, he was Vicar of Eyeworth from 1832 to 1836, Vicar of Kinlet from 1837 to 1847, Vicar of Cowfold from 1839 to 1876 and Prebendary of Chichester from 1850 to 1876. He died at Cowfold on 25 June 1876.

    5th daughter of Rev. William Bruere Otter, Archdeacon of Lewes, by Elizabeth, 3rd and youngest daughter of Robert Melvil, English Consul at Amsterdam. Baptised 9 April 1854 in Cowfold Parish Church. Buried 8 July 1928 at Barrow Gurney. Memorial Inscription in the churchyard there and in Barrow Court chapel. Memorial reredos and Memorial window, both as aforesaid under her husband. Administration 23 November 1928.

    The following is a selection from a number of posts which she held at different times. In 1920 she resigned from sixteen on account of ill health. An original member of the General and Exec. Committees of the Somerset Federation of Women's Institutes, 1902-12, and an elected Vice-President, 1902-28; President of the Barrow-Gurney Women's Institute till 1928; Founder and President of the local Nursing Association; for many years on the Committee of the Somerset Association of the Welfare of Women and Girls:
    co-opted Member of the Board of Guardians of Long Ashton afsd. 1904-28, and acted on many of its sub-committees; on the Somerset County Education Committee, 1903-20, and co-opted Member of its Special Subjects Committee, 1913-20; a Trustee of St. Michael's Home afsd. till 1928; on the Council of Bristol Blind School for many years till 1928; on the General Committee of Bristol Blind Asylum 1912-28; founded in 1912 the North Somerset Women's Unionist Association and was President and Chairman thereof; Local Representative of the Long Ashton War Pensions Sub-committee, 1914-20.

Wounded again at the 2nd Battle of Ypres near Potije, he returned to France 19 August 1915. At various times, 1915-18, was Acting Lieut. Col. 10th Hussars. Seconded to Tank Corps, 9 June 1918. Slightly wounded again, 23 August 1918, but remained on duty. His war service ended with a fourth wound suffered 17 October l918 near Vaud Audigny. (Mentioned in Despatches, Gazette, May 1917.     Sir Peter Tremayne Miles KCVO (26 June 1924 – 15 October 2013) was a British Army officer, businessman and courtier in the Household of Elizabeth II.

    Miles was born in Long Ashton, Somerset, the son of Lt-Col Edward Miles MC and Mary Gibbs and a descendant of Philip John Miles. He was educated at Eton College before going to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, from where he commissioned into the Royal Dragoons on 25 June 1944.[1] He saw active service with the Royal Armoured Corps in the Second World War.

    Between 1959 and 1980, Miles worked as the director of Gerrard and Reid Ltd. He subsequently joined the Royal Household, serving as Keeper of the Privy Purse, Treasurer to Elizabeth II and Receiver-General of the Duchy of Lancaster between 1981 and 1987. He was also Secretary of the Royal Victorian Order during the same period. He was appointed Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in the 1986 New Year Honours.[2] He was appointed an Extra Equerry to the Queen in 1988.

    He married Philippa Helen Tremlett, daughter of Edmund Bernard Marcellin Tremlett, on 25 July 1956. Together they had three children.
