In February 1854 he inherited Bedgebury Park, Kent and Beresford Hall, Staffordshire from his mother's second husband, General William Carr Beresford.

    Hon. Bridget, 6th surviving daughter of the Right. Hon. Alexander James Beresford Beresford-Hope, M.P. of Bedgebury Park, Kent (See Burke's 'Landed Gentry') by Lady Mildred Arabella Charlotte, 1st daughter of the 2nd Marquess of Salisbury (died 1868). Born and baptised privately at Bedgebury Park 19 February and received into the Church 23 October 1853 at Kilndown, Kent. Married at Kilndown 18 February 1873. Died at Funchal, Madeira 27 February 1896 and was buried in the English Cemetery there. Administration 20 March 1896.

In the Great War a member (1915-19) of Headquarters Central Detachment of Metropolitan Special Constabulary, London (Special constabulary medal). As a Freemason: Junior Grand Warden of England in Mark masonry 1911-12; Senior Grand Deacon of England in Craft Masonry 1931; Member of 'Nobody's Friends' from 1916, of the Carlton Club from 1908. On the Council of St. Peter's Home, Kilburn. A Trustee of St. Michael's Home, Cheddar. He and his wife lived from 1905 at 41 Connaught Sq., Paddington.
